As per a news report on the ICC website, Maxwell has injured his ankle. He is returning to Australia due to this injury. His wife is with him as well. However, the relieving factor for Australia is that Maxwell’s injury is not too severe.

Australian team selector Tony Dodemaide has reacted to Maxwell’s injury. Dodemaide has stated that the team does not want to take any risks with Maxwell. He said, We will prioritize Maxwell’s recovery, he stated We hope that he will be available for the three-match ODI series against India before the World Cup.”

It’s worth noting that Maxwell is a prominent all-rounder for Australia. He has played 128 ODIs so far, scoring 3490 runs. During this time, Maxwell has hit 2 centuries and 23 half-centuries. He has also taken 60 wickets. In T20 Internationals, Maxwell has scored 2159 runs in 98 matches, including 3 centuries and 10 half-centuries. He has taken 39 wickets in this format.
