Kia Carens car from Kia has created a sensation, offering these premium features at such an affordable price, even causing concern for brands like Maruti and Toyota. Kia Motors’ most affordable and premium 7-seater car in the Indian market is the Kia Carens, starting from 10.45 lakh rupees and going up to 18.90 lakh rupees ex-showroom in the Indian market.

In Kia Carens, there are eight color options to choose from, including Imperial Blue, Mars Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacial White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Grey, and Aurora Black. It is presented with both 6-seater and 7-seater options.

Kia Carens offers the most features in its price range among seven-seater cars. It comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and the convenience of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, it includes cruise control, a single-pane sunroof, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, second-row seats that fold in a single touch, and a unique feature – air conditioning controls for the rear seats behind the front row, which is not found in other vehicles.

In terms of safety features, the Kia Carens comes with 6 airbags, electronic stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist, disc brakes on all wheels, and Isofix child safety provisions.


There are 3 engine options available for power delivery under the hood. The first is a 1.5-liter petrol engine generating 115 bhp of power and 144 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The second option is a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 160 bhp of power and 253 Nm of torque. This engine comes with a choice of either a 6-speed IMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) or a 7-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission). The final option is a 1.5-liter diesel engine that generates 115 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed IMT or an automatic transmission.

The available variants of Kia Carens include Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus.The company claims that the maintenance cost of the Kia Carens (1.4-liter turbo GDI) is only 0.37 rupees per kilometer. Additionally, the diesel engine provides a mileage of 21.3 km/liter, while the petrol variant offers a mileage of 16.5 km/liter.


Kia Carens competes closely with Maruti Ertiga and Maruti XL6 in terms of pricing. Furthermore, it also competes with Toyota Innova Crysta, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar in this segment.

However, in terms of pricing, both of these vehicles are more expensive than the Kia Carens. Prior to the launch of the Kia Carens, it was estimated that its price would be around that of the Hyundai Alcazar. However, when the prices were revealed, it was a surprising moment for the entire auto industry.
